Q: Is your ECDIS training approved?

• A: Mobile Marine Technology has developed its ECDIS training programs, having taken into account the results of both IMO and UK MCA research and resolutions into the forms and requirements of ECDIS training. We have optimised training delivery by complying with IMO resolutions, whilst adopting a fully interactive CAT*based training format, utilising type specific software, wherever possible. Consequently we are currently undergoing the processes for approval of these training programs by the United Kingdom Maritime & Coastguard Agency.

Q: Is ECDIS training a legal requirement?

• A: No. At present ECDIS training is a recommendation only, however, it is likely that, as conversion to ECDIS systems increase, training will become regulated and a legal requirement

Q: What form does your training take?

• A: Our training is delivered by experienced trainers utilising a full CAT* capability which we provide, at locations stipulated by our clients.

Q: If we undergo training now, will it be approved?

• A: Upon successful completion of the full ECDIS training, a certificate of satisfactory completion will be issued. However, this will not be approved until the training program is granted approval/accreditation by the United Kingdom Maritime & Coastguard Agency, at which point, training undertaken, utilising the full syllabus, will be approved.

Q: What advantages are there to training with Mobile Marine Technology, rather than at a Nautical College?

• A: There are several advantages. Cost! You will save on the costs of training, primarily by reducing the costs of accommodation and traveling which accompany training at Nautical Colleges. Type Specific training. Our training utilises the systems you have opted to install and operate, rather than the generic systems utilised by Nautical Colleges! Practical application. By utilising installed applications on your own vessels, trainees acquire a more practically oriented knowledge and capability. These are only a few of the advantages to training with Mobile Marine Technology!
